Selection by specific frequency and specific amplitude

I’m working on a song where I have split up drums into the k/snr/cym layers, but there is an annoyingly loud tamborine on the cymbals layer. I am thinking that I should be able to select exactly the freq range of the tamb, and only whenever that freq is showing activity at a certain level, so I can reduce it there and only there. So for example, anything between 5-7k, and, above -14 dB, only. Possible?

I suppose it’s like a de-esser in a way.

Maybe by using Unmix components and in the resultant Transient layer try Unmix levels?
This way maybe you would find the tambourine hits.

Yes, activate the cymbal layer, then Unmix Levels, set -14dB. This will split the cymbal layer into 2 sub layers based on power, select the highest power layer, then use the frequency range tool to select the 5-7k range, and apply gain reduction.
