since updating to Cubase 14, whenever I select an audio event and move it, its not moved from its beginning but from its first hitpoint. I am unable to e.g. align the beginnings of clips because of this.
How do I change this? I’ve tried turning off video editing mode and automatic hitpoint detection.
I feel like so many random things have been changed in Cubase, and because of the licensing stuff everyone is being forced to switch to 14. These new “features” should be optional and not standard settings…
You could post a screenshot showing an audio event in the project view.
There is a chance that the “first hitpoint” is actually the snap point of the event.
Thank you, I believe you are right about snap points; I can see them as vertical lines on my events. I did never choose to use them, though, and they seem to be created automatically. How can I disable automatic snap points?
Maybe you accidently pressed the assigned key command to create a snap point in the sample editor? That might happen occasionally and by accident. Have a look at your key commands and see which key triggers it.
You can’t. Every audio event must have one snap point.
When recording audio Cubase will set the snap point to a grid position near the beginning of the recording. If you start the recording on a bar, the snap point will be at the very beginning. If the recording start “somwhere in between” Cubase will put the snap point to a grid position. This has the advantage that when moving the event afterwards the start of the event will keep its relative distance to the grid point.
Unfortunately there is no option yet to switch this off.
