Hi, I want to record guitars and I have some effects inserted on the input channel. But I don’t want to commit to these effects so I’d like to also output the signal pre-inserts to a separate track so I can have the raw sound in case I want to change the effects. Is this possible, or would I have to go through a DI box and feed two inputs into my session, one going to the input with the effects and one going to an input without effects? thanks
Your first sentence sounds like the effects are VST plugins, your second sentence sounds like the effects are outside of the computer.
If you want to use VST plugins: Then don’t put them on the input bus channel. Create two audio tracks instead and have them both get their input from the same input channel. On one track you load the effects as inserts, on the other you don’t.
Oh yes, sorry. I am using VST plug ins. So I’d like to record the effects, but also have a track without the effects. That way if I’m happy with how it sounds I can delete the raw track, but if I need to change the effects I can use the raw track and start from schratch.
You can create an additional Input Bus that uses the same device as the existing one. Obviously they will receive the same signal. One can be equipped with the plugins, the other without.
Oh I didn’t realize I could do that. I’ll try that tonight. Thanks
Tried it and it worked. I learned something new. thanks again
