Sequencer bar stuttering when GUI plugin is open

This is among other issues, one of the things that drives me mad at the moment.

This PC is ca 3-4 yrs old. Win 10. 64gig ram. nvidia 2080.

Whenever i use plugins that use or have animations in it or are not static (gui wise) Cubase 14 sequencer bar starts to stutter. Some are so bad it will cause to freeze. I have to close the gui to get it back to being smooth again.

As a Cubase user since 1989, people always say “well something is wrong with your pc” when in fact NONE of the other software I have display this kind of behavior. Bitwig doesnt. Live doesn’t. Nor the other issues (like freezing up when closing a project). So its Cubase specific.

Does anyone know any nvidia settings that should be turned on or off maybe? I realize that a 2080 would be old for gaming but for simply using a sequencer software it should still suffice.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hi,

Please try this:

  • Download the latest Studio driver version from here. If there is no Studio driver for your graphic card, use the one, which is available and continue with the same steps below.
  • Disconnect the computer from the Internet to ensure Windows will not download and install its graphic driver.
  • Uninstall the NVIDIA driver.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Start the NVIDIA driver installation (as administrator).
  • Don’t install the whole package, use the Custom (Advanced) settings.
  • Disable everything (don’t install NVIDIA Experience, PhysX, etc.), and keep the video driver enabled.
  • Connect your computer to the internet.
