Set Selected Tracks to Random colors

Hi!

I would like to request a color feature that Digital Performer had which was the ability to set all selected tracks to a random color. I use Cubase for a lot of midi clean up for orchestration and it is nice to have the track color randomized to easily spot different tracks in the midi editor just by looking at it. At the moment I don’t think there is a way to script this but let me know if I am wrong. I know there is a setting to make all new tracks different colors but I am working from a midi file and so far It does not set tracks to different colors upon opening the midi file in cubase. Thanks!

This function already exists at Preferences>User Interface

This only works for new tracks. If you open a midi file in cubase (select the midi file in finder, open with, cubase) it still sets them all to the default color.

That would be a very useful function.

In the mean time here’s a hacky way to set different colors using PLEs and a macro. Hope this makes sense.

The xml files go in
Documents\Steinberg\Cubase\User Presets\Project Logical Editor

color 6.xml (5.5 KB)
color 5.xml (5.5 KB)
color 4.xml (5.5 KB)
color 3.xml (5.5 KB)
color 2.xml (5.5 KB)
color 1.xml (5.5 KB)
