Set tempo from definition

The function : Set definition from tempo
works as expected.
I can remove the event from the project (but keep it in the pool), delete all the tempo changes in the tempo track and then re-insert the event that has definitions saved to it, activate musical mode, and the event’s tempo definition points will align to the current tempo grid, warping the audio accordingly.
I have been trying to figure how to do the opposite:
Have the project tempo track re-create all the tempo variations i spent hours fine-tuning from the event that HAS definitions saved to it !?!
Without having to run tempo detection or manually re-editing all the points…
It seems so simple and obvious to have a process that brings A to B and also be able to do the opposite: B to A
I was sure i overlooked something…
Now i feel i’m the only one who thought of it.
Its probably not been needed for the average or popular workflow…
Anyways, “set tempo from event” doesn’t seem to do that. Unless i missed something.

But don’t you have the project where you set all these tempo changes saved?

I suppose i could save a project for every tracks i sequence the tempo… and then find a way to copy paste the section of the tempo track and match it with the section of the event in my current project, but this looks to me like a lot of unnecessary steps.
Especially if i mix many audio files in a row into my main project.
If cubase has SAVED the definition to the event, why not allowing to express them back on the tempo track perfectly aligned with the event ?
I mean, wherever i place it.
I just find it weird that “save definition from tempo”
only works one-way…
In the definition tab of the sample editor, i can see the definition was saved and i can match the sample editor’s grid, but haven’t found a way to reflect that back into the main project window.
I guess what i am trying to achieve is closer to sequencing for a movie and i am not there yet…
The more i learn, the more there is to learn.
Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I see what you mean.
I can understand that this function is not for what you meant to do but mostly for correcting the event’s tempo and letting the program know where is the right beat for this event so you can then make the event follow other tempi.
That said, as the tempo definition is already baked in the audio there should be a way to do what you say and let the user choose its needs.
As a workaround, you can export an smt file along with the audio so you can have the tempo track handy.
