I see the option to set a fixed number of measures per system; is there no option to set a minimum number of measures per system? For context, I don’t like the way Dorico will sometimes allow the final system to not span the entire width of the page, so I unchecked the option in Layout Options–>Note Spacing regarding justifying the final system in flow, so that it is always justified. However, sometimes, this leads to a final “system” spanning the whole page which consists of one measure only, which is way too stretched out. I can manually go to the systems before this and tweak system breaks to get more than one measure so it looks better, but it seems an option to set a “minimum measures per system” would be a good option, so that I could set it to not allow fewer than 2 measures per system.
Hi @kevin.higginbotham, if you happen to have one lonely bar in the last system, adjusting (reducing) slightly the note spacing in Layout Options>Note Spacing, will probably make your last bar to be integrated with the last system (with more than one bar). Or use a local Note Spacing Change for the last page, or last couple of pages, if you are happy with the note spacing on preceding bars/pages.
(Or you could, in Engrave mode, select an item in the last bar and press , to move it to the previous system.)
That makes sense. After years of Sibelius, I definitely like Dorico’s default engraving/spacing much better, requires much less tweaking, but there are some things like this that still apparently will require manual/local tweaking. It certainly seems that “minimum/maximum measures per system” would be a more helpful feature than “fixed measures per system”, FWIW. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a score to have a fixed number of measures per system. Thanks for the reply!

Perhaps a feature that would disallow widow or orphan measures (like that other program)!
