Hi smart people!
I work a lot with solo vocal/piano arrangements and find often that Dorico spaces the piano far below the vocal line in its efforts to fill a page evenly. I see the “Minimum Gaps” section of Layout Options—but is there a way to set a “Maximum Gap,” at least between vocal and piano?
Thanks for whatever suggestions you can offer!
David
It’s hard to tell from the image, but maybe Vertical Spacing > Vertical Justification is the issue. Set the two numbers to 100% and see what happens.

Well, huh. That was an easy fix. Some day when I’ve had more sleep I’ll dig in and figure out why that worked.
Thanks so much, @billstevns !

Setting both numbers to 100% means that Justification will never happen.
There may be other ways of achieving the result without turning off justification completely.
As ever, we’d need to see the actual document (or something similar, with different notes, if you don’t want to post your piece).
Yep. “Double 100’s” wasn’t what I needed, but playing with those two settings will almost certainly do the trick! As always, I so appreciate the quick generous support this forum offers!
