Can someone help me set up a double choir SATB grand staff layout? See screenshot for how far I got, but there are multiple problems:
- Why, in the first choir, does SA and TB show on the same line, but in the second choir, does SA and TB show on separate lines? (Note that I created these by renaming the players, then typing S followed by option-space, then return, then A followed by option-space. Similar for all four staves.)
- How do I create labels IN BETWEEN the staves where I can write “Choir 1” and “Choir 2”?
There is a grand-staff “Choir” instrument.
Ha. Wow. Just noticed that. Thanks Ben.
I’ve recently used that instrument for a whole Mass’s piano reduction and, while it worked great for the simpler parts, it came apart when I needed divisi because only one of the two staves could be ‘divided’, ending up with wrong directions in the arrows.
I do not fully understand how the OP got to have two different naming alignments with the same initial approach. That could be worth investigating.
For the labels in between, @user450 , you could great two groups, one for each choir, and label them “Choir 1” and “Choir 2”.
@MicheleGalvagno in your example, you could use BOTH the unified grand-staff choir, AND individual S-A-T-B section players. Write the unified music into the grand-staff choir, write the contrapuntal music into the individual section players, then use Layout Options > Vertical Spacing > Staff Visibility > Hide Empty Staves to hide the versions that are not in use during specific moments of the piece. In other words, you can effectively switch between both approaches as needed.
