Was minding my own business on youtube, having a listen to my own channel’s songs, wondering why they are so slow 
hmm don’t remember them being so slow, or why.
Under my next song saw another channel like mine with the same amount of subs. Ok let’s hear what he’s doing. Oh that one sounds nice.
The album art looked suspicious so I checked up on his channel info. Which reminded me the reason I gave up on music two years ago. This is why:
Three hundred music videos in two weeks is an average of seventeen videos per day.
It takes me like a month to make each song. In the past it took a rock band a year to make a ten song album. Idea, lyrics, bass, leads, drums, vocals, practiced, mixed, mastered, album art, published.
So I’m basically in my garage building cars by myself with hand tools, trying to compete with Ford Motor Company, who’s factory down the street spits out a brand new F150 every fifty seconds (their truck factory actually does do that).
This is the real issue with generative AI. The morals are bad, yes. The future of what AI will do to the world is bad, yes. But for us artists the real issue is the volume of content generation. We just can’t compete.
This one youtube channel by himself buries three hundred natural songs under the weight of the three hundred AI videos in his catalogue. So three hundred people who posted a song, those will never see the light of day because this guy’s AI videos takes the limited space in the social media recommended feed.

You need two things to make music. The desire and an audience. Without both things it’s pointless. I might as well sing to the carpet and the squirrels outside. It’s like a chef with a fine kitchen and trained staff but no customers at tables. Or a guy in a multiplayer game sitting there waiting in the lobby by himself and no one wants to play with him. Or the kid at the park with a football bouncing it off trees cause there’s no one else to play with.
My unfortunate family members are trying to “talk me off the ledge” again with their uneducated, low-iq false positivity. The same sugar coated empty cheerleading that has no value because it’s not real. “People go to concerts” , “people still like real music” , “AI doesn’t stop you from making music”. Nonsense like that.
When people reply with “live laugh love” babbling it’s not because they are trying to help you, it’s because they just don’t want to hear it. They are basically replying with a carboard-flavoured canned response cause they just don’t care for the complaining. Like in the Bible the priest that blessed the beat up guy on the side of the road and moved on (which did nothing for him). While the good samaritan actually helped the man with food, shelter and medicine.

Guys like rick beato, venus theory, busyworksbeats, bennjordan, are so very gentle about this AI issue. Why? Because they already built their empire before this AI hostile takeover, so it won’t touch their house. They can preach for everyone to “get along”, from their ivory towers. “It’s not so bad” they say, but what would they know about that?
Like the big companies not doing anything about AI. Why? Cause the executives who make the decisions; they already have assets so AI can’t destroy them. Even if they have to sell their company to a bigger one, what is that to them? Just some more paperwork that their staff will do. They will still live in castles, with swimming pools, still have hired wage slaves do their laundry, and their daughters still complain that they bought them a white porche but they wanted a pink one.
So guess I’ll just go sit in a bar and nurse a drink all day. Or go fishing and throw the fish back. Or play video games and watch paint dry and grass grow. Cause making music is now just as meaningless as those things. Thanks to the life sucking black hole narcissists, who value money over all things, including life itself.
