strange behavior when using the “shaper” modulator set to “one-shot” triggered from a midi note. the midi trigger is not resetting the curve (mseg) back to it’s start position? is this a bug or am i not understanding how it works? the midi trigger works as expected when using the lfo modulator (i.e. the lfo is reset to it’s start position with each midi trigger). just seems to be a problem with the shaper modulator.
I would also like to understand this, did you ever figure it out?
Appears to be a bug as far as i can tell? I’m surprised there hasn’t been more discussion of this. Current behavior makes it useless for me.
Thats pretty disappointing to hear. I held off requesting a refund for my copy of Cubase thinking I just needed to learn it but the more i learn the more bugs I’m finding. Sigh.
the 14.0.40 release notes say. “The Modulator Shaper (One Shot, MIDI) now starts at the correct phase upon Note-On.” but i still can’t get this to work as expected. i have it triggered from a midi note in sync mode (“notes”). one shot mode. the total length of the envelope is set to 1/2 notes but i’m triggering them every 1/4 note. what happens is it only restarts the envelope every 1/2 note. in other words… it will not retrigger the envelope from it’s start position until it’s finished it’s cycle. i don’t understand why you’d ever want this. but it would be great to at least have an option to retrigger the envelope from it’s start position with each midi note trigger. other similar plugins and software that i can think of, all retrigger the envelope from it’s start position when they receive a midi note if set up similarly. bitwig is the most obvious. but shaperbox, kilohearts snapheap as well.
Hi @davidgamson , Quick test (N14.0.41 ) and seems to work as it should: 1/4 notes midi triggering a Shaper modulator set to 1/4 notes on an audio track with Noise generator. If the Modulator Sync note is changed from 1/4 to 1/2 it triggers only two beats in the bar of noise as expected. The phase also works as expected.
Changing from Sync to Frequency in the modulator also works as expected enabling free control of the speed of whatever is drawn into the One Shot Shape (However Complex)
Hi @ckon Thanks but I’m actually talking about the opposite of what you’re doing. Length of the envelope set to 1/2 notes triggering from a midi note on each 1/4 note. My expectation is the envelope would play to its halfway point and then get retriggered. That’s not happening.
I see what you mean.
The LFO modulator works as you would want it (e.g a simple ramp down) i.e 1/2 note will re-trigger at every midi note regardless of the timing of those mid notes?
