Shortcut worked only for ten minutes then stopped

Hi everyone,

I’ve seen various similar threads so far but not the right one for me..

This morning I created a bunch of new shortcuts and, among them, one to bypass all inserts on a channel (key commands > mixer > Inserts) as I never had done it before and I set it to Shift+° (I’m on a Mac if it’s relevant) but after ten minutes it stopped working and I can’t understand why… (I obviously closed-restarted the project first, than Cubase itself but nothing changed).

Immediately before that I’d created one to toggle a/b press setting (Shift+§) while working with inserts and it still works perfectly…

Anyone else encountered this kind of bug? Is that a known one? Any hint?

Thank you,

Art

This never happened to me unless I overwrote an assigned key command (there’s a warning before you do). Are you sure, that you saved it? I’m on Windows, BTW.

Yes @Reco29, thank you…

I also tried different combinations but always got the same issue but only with that specific shortcut key…

I also tried to check if could depend on being the various fx simply bypassed or deactivated but it doesn’t seemed to change… Kind of a (annoying) mystery! :man_shrugging:

@arfo62 if there’s a bug here, a repro sequence would be helpful if you can find one.

I presume the little notification saying “such and such keystroke acannot be used right now” (I paraphrase) didn’t pop up?

Could it be a window focus question?

Hi @steve ,

I try to recap:

Working on a single track with four inserts on I wanted both a shortcut to toggle bypass individually and all together.

For the first one I found a solution here and I also replied.

Then I did as I usually do:

Open the Key Commands panel (for me ctrl+K)

Searched for “bypass”

Found Mixer > Bypass Inserts

Set the key command to Shift + °

Nothing else.

Always worked perfectly for a very short while both in channel editing panel than in project window then it stopped…

Trying to guess the reason I suspected the fact than the ° character is in a three function key in my keyboard and I switched to Shift + : (and/or other combinations but nothing changed…).

I always get the message you can see in the attached pic…

Thanks for helping!

I wonder if that means it works only in the mixer? Did you already try that?

I tried now but nothing changes… This morning I only used it outside the mixer window…

Correct :+1: As far as I remember, the Mixer window should be focused in order for this command to work.

@arfo62, a workaround is to use this PLE instead. It will work for the selected track, no matter if Mixer has the focus, or the channel settings window, or even none of them.

I could swear this morning it worked perfectly with mixer window closed, maybe it was a kind of reverse mystery

Great! This the very solution! Thanks a lot @m.c ! :folded_hands:
