Shortcuts with Spanish Keyboard

Here in Mexico I use a Spanish keyboard. Some of the regular English key commands don’t work; for example, Shift-Alt-I to invoke Stop position.

Changing the language in Dorico to Spanish doesn’t help.

Is there a chart somewhere of Spanish keyboard shortcut equivalencies? I haven’t been able to find one anywhere.

Hi @Engelbach, did you try to switch the Key Commands Keyboard language itself into Spanish?:

Thanks, Christian.

Yes, as I said, I changed the language to Spanish. It made no difference. When I switch to a USA keyboard layout the key commands work.

Cheers,
Jer

Yes, was asking, just in case: was not so clear to me, where did you “change the language”, as there are two places that can be set with independent languages:

(When I change the language of the Key commands, I noticed that my saved shortcut for that language become available only after restarting Dorico, but this is probably not your issue…)

And by the way: how much I envy you, in the sun of Mexico :sunny:

Maybe the table attached below helps a little to identify the key commands on your Spanish keyboard. I’ve extracted the English, German, and Spanish commands from the JSON files in the Dorico program folder and put them in a common table. As far as I can see, there are not many differences between the languages.

I have an English keyboard, but use a Spanish layout, and on the Mac you can use the keyboard viewer to figure out where the different keys are. I don’t know if this would help in your situation though.

Another option would be to program your own shortcuts.

Thanks, Christian. I changed the keyboard language, but not the General.

It is beautiful down here …

Martin, thank you for the chart.

I’m afraid it still doesn’t work for my Spanish keyboard. Dunno why.

Jer

vgpichardo,

Mine is a native Spanish keyboard. Programming my own shortcuts is a good idea, if I can figure out how. Thank you.

Cheers,
Jer

It’s quite easy, you can assign them in Preferences

And remember that there’s also the Jump Bar, one of my favorite features:

vgpichardo,

I missed seeing your reply until now. Thank you so much.
