Is there a way to show melodic cues from a different instrument in a drum part prior to the entrance of the drums? I want to show a rubato trumpet part prior to the drum entering so the drummer can follow it prior to his first entrance. I assume it would involve a clef change, but when I add the cues in the treble cleff they still appear as a single line above the staff instead of a melody. I am sure there is a way, I just don’t know how.

Hi @gcc1, you need to add a melodic instrument staff to your drum player (substitute its name with just an empty space), to be used to apply (in Galley view) and display (in Page view) the melodic cues for the otherwise unpitched drum kit. The Layout Option Allow Instrument changes will take care of the rest.
You may want to deactivate Show instrument change label after cue, if cue precedes first note in new instrument. And possibly you need to move the cue label because the invisible label of the dummy instrument may cause unwanted spacing. You need also to rename the Layout to delete the “&”. And if you don’t want to see the “Dr.” label, you can set a custom name (an empty space also) in Engraving mode:
