Showing individual percussion instruments in single line layout

In write mode, is there a way to show the names of individual percussion instruments in single line mode? In the example below I show a five line presentation of a percussion section player with music imported from a Finale generated mxl file. Above I show, in individual line mode, some of the lines from my individual percussion player with a percussion kit set up to match what is in Finale. Note that Dorico imports into some standard percussion kit layout, not my layout. So I need to move the music to the correct percussion instruments. But, it is a large kit and without names of each instrument to guide me, I have to scroll to the beginning of the flow to see the instrument names on the single line layout. Is there a way to show each instrument name on each line as Percussion 3: Percussion 3 shows on the five line presentation?

This doesn’t seem normal to me. I’d love to examine a version of that project if possible.

It’s just showing two different unpitched percussion players. The top one is in single-line instruments mode and the bottom one is in 5-line staff mode. The top one is an individual percussion player holding a percussion kit. The bottom one is a percussion section player whose kit is (unfortunately) a generic kit created by Dorico when an import from a Finale generated mxl file is matched to it. The issue is that Dorico mostly (but not always) gets the note positions and note heads from the mxl file right, but a lot of the instruments wrong. So I need to copy and past the individual instruments from the second player to the correct instrument in the kit of the first player. The easiest way, so far, I’ve found to do that is to select a note on the second player, click command+shift+A several times to select all of the notes at that staff position and with that note head, copy, then paste to the first player. That comes close, but there is still a lot of clean up to do to match what is in the Finale score.------If there is a more efficient way to move percussion in large kits from Finale to Dorico, I’d love to learn how to do it.

You should see all the instrument names in Galley View.

To get back to your original question of why instrument names aren’t displaying: I can’t offer any advice without seeing your project and settings.

I have created a stripped and silenced version of my project and have uploaded it here. Something I discovered this morning is that the instrument names aren’t shown when I have a filter in write mode to just show the two percussion players I am working with. If I deactivate the filter, the names show on each line as expected.

Indeed, this issue with percussion kits displayed in single-line staves with galley view filter has been reported:

Meanwhile, what you can do is create a working layout corresponding to this filter:
