Hi,
I’d like to show a short 1-bar musical example at the start of every part (including the full score), as part of an explanation of an extended technique. This musical example is in a separate flow, and is in a Violin part. I’ve got as far as creating a custom page template called ‘Info’, within which there is some text and a music frame, linked to the flow containing the musical example.
This works for the violin part, but for the other parts ‘tacet’ is shown in the musical frame (which makes sense, because that instrument is not playing). So how can I set it so that the violin part is shown in all parts for the musical example flow only?
Or is there perhaps a better way of doing this that I don’t know about?
Thanks
Have you thought of making a graphic slice of the violin excerpt and adding that as a graphic to a custom first-page layout for any parts that need it?
You need to make sure the violin whose music goes in this extra flow is also assigned to all the part layouts.
If it’s the same violin player as you use in the main flow, that might require extra fixup steps so the “real” violin music doesn’t appear alongside every part.
Perhaps making sure your violin excerpt is a separate player to any used in the “real” music would make this easier – because that way, the “violin excerpt player” can be excluded entirely from the “real” flow(s).
