Side Chain Bass -> midi Kick

I’m trying to understand how to generate a midi kick note (C1) from a bass track. I inserted a plug in that has side chain input (Gate, multi band compressor, etc.) on the midi track. I added a Send from the bass track to the midi track’s plugin. Did not work - no midi is output at all. I can see the analog signal within the plug in but no midi.

What am I doing wrong? I’m new at this side chain stuff…

Hi,

If you have Cubase Pro, use VariAudio. Open the Sample editor of the bass track. And use Extrackt MIDI from the VariAudio tab.
