Side chain compression

Trying to set up a side chain compressor on a bass group. Tried initially from a Groove Agent instance but it didn’t show up in the side chain sources. I tried bouncing the midi to audio but the new audio track didn’t show up as a source either. I eventually swapped audio with a track that did show up and could then use that to trigger the compressor but that is not a proper solution. Am I missing something?

All audio tracks, group tracks and instrument tracks turn up for me.
I think we’d need to see your project to work out why some tracks aren’t allowed.

What would you need to see?

Your project…the cpr. Obviously no audio files or anything.

RC1 mix hh reduced.zip (1.1 MB)
Here’s zip, had to compress as it’s above thi 4Mb limit

I should add the .cpr contains a compressor on the bass group but the side chain is not from the track I originally wanted to send it from. I wanted to use the second instance of Groove agent then the render in place product of that midi track, neither of which appeared in the options

Ok…was just about to ask what tracks…so the SB compressor on bass group…and by second instance of GA I take it you mean track no 2 yes? That’s titled sidechain?

If you disable the sends you can select it as sidechain…Cubase is over-cautiously trying to stop you creating a feedback loop.

Sorry to be dim, which sends?

Them sends…they need to be removed, not just bypassed. It may not be all of them but I can’t be bothered tracing the possible feedback loops.

Thank you, I’m very grateful. No idea why the sends were there anyway. I didn’t add them for those tracks but I had seen them and ignored them.

Maybe you or an update flipped the preference to add them automatically to new tracks. I’ve logged of my DAW computer now so can’t confirm where that is but pretty sure it exists somewhere in prefs.

That’s possible, I updated yesterday. I’ve logged off mine too but I’ll check tomorrow
