Signal Chain 101: Best Uses Insert Slots 7 & 8?

I started the day trying to learn uses of pre-fader sends other than for monitor mixes and reverb based effects like something moving backwards or forwards in the sound stage.

Then somehow I got side-tracked into basic audio channel signal chain processing.

OP Manual pg. 189 shows the audio channel insert routing and suggests best uses of the post-fader slots 7 & 8 for Dithering and Maximizing.

I was wondering what other uses folks have found for these slots?

I also wondered whether when the track also had sends to FX or Group channels, use of the post-fader slots would introduce phasing. I think if the effects in the FX or Group channels are 100% wet, this would not be an issue … but I’m not positive.

Tips or tricks, anyone?
