Silence/Dropout Detection

I have a friend that is looking for some software that can find and mark audio dropouts in a recording. The material is many many hours so listening in real-time is not really an option.

Can WaveLab drop in markers in a file where silence/dropout is detected?

The Audio Error Detection and Correction tool is the tool to use.

Thanks. That is the area that I though had the most promise but I wasn’t sure what settings to use as it seemed mostly about click detection rather than dropouts.

The settings are the tricky part. One must exercise them on examples.

Like PG said it all depends on the settings and dropout type. And analog tape dropouts are a whole other issue I haven’t even pursued. But for digital problem mutes and dropouts, it works well.
