Is there a simple, easy way to have Dorico playback pure sine waves?

You’d need a VST instrument that generates a Sine wave.
HALion’s Sonic Selection has a “Solo Sine”, though it comes with massive echo and portamento – which you can turn off using the knobs in the VST (as per the above link).
There’s another instrument called “Sinewaves at Play”, which has two sine waves; though again you could adjust the settings to remove all the effects and generate a clean tone.
If you have the ARIA Player, it should be fairly easy to knock up a sine wave instrument, which I can do in a bit. The Garritan Pipe Organ library comes with a sine generator. Hammond organs are of course sine wave generators!
