I was working on a project on Dorico 5. I reinstalled the program and by mistake also Dorico 4. Since I did it, it has no longer been able to open a project: the program closes before opening. I have no problems with other projects and even opening a new one is fine.
I attach the Diagnostic zip
alessandro, if you have several versions of Dorico on your computer, go to your project file xyz.dorico right click - and choose Open with: Dorico 5!
Just double clicking on the file might trigger the wrong version to start up.
It shouldn’t matter. Dorico should open the project and then display the “This project was created in…etc” prompt, shouldn’t it? Similar to if you open a new project in an old version of Dorico.
Alessandro, does the project you’re trying to open have an attached video file? Dorico is crashing because something is going wrong inside the video engine. If you’re able to share the project itself and the attached video, we may be able to figure out what’s going wrong.
Hi, thank you very much for the reply, yes there is a video, I attach both the project and the video here. The video takes up too much space so I’m forced to upload it via we transfert, I know that links can’t be uploaded but I hope it’s not a problem
Yes, it tells me that it was created on Dorico 4 but despite this it loads up to 92% and then closes, even with Dorico 4 it doesn’t open it. Anyway yes, I also tried to uninstall Dorico 4 but the same thing happens.
Many thanks for including the project. The good (I think!) news is that it opens correctly, and the video also plays back OK.
Let’s try something: please quit all versions of Dorico on your system. Open the Terminal. Type the following command:
open $TMPDIR
and hit Return. A new Finder window should open containing (I expect) lots and lots of files with all sorts of peculiar names. Scroll through this window until you find Dorico 4 and Dorico 5. Delete these two folders.
Now try running Dorico 5 again, and try opening your project. Hopefully you will find that the project now opens correctly. If not, please do Help > Create Diagnostic Report again and attach the updated diagnostics here.
I’m sorry to hear that this hasn’t helped. I’ll need to contact my colleagues who are responsible for the video engine and ask them for their assistance. Please bear with me.
