I created a solo instrument and a section instrument, and assigned them different sounds. However, when I saved them as endpoints and applied them in a playback template, they both reverted to the same sound. Did I do something wrong in the process, or is there a setting in the instrument setup that allows the solo and section versions to be linked to different sounds?
No, you didn’t do anything wrong. Unless I’m much mistaken, Dorico doesn’t capture in the endpoint configuration whether the instrument is single or section, so it will then normally choose the first matching entry when the endpoint setup is applied. You could create a new instrument type in Library > Instruments based on the existing Dagu instrument, as that will have a different internal identifier, and allow Dorico to assign it separately.
Thank you for saving me the time, but it seems that Dorico’s built-in instruments can have different sounds assigned for solo and section players. Is there any chance this feature could be added for user-defined instruments in the future?
