Single Shortcut to Open Window Editor Based on Selected Event

Cubase has the following “Commands” available in the “Key Commands” panel, to which I can assign shortcuts:

•	Open Audio Part Editor in Window
•	Open Drum Editor in Window
•	Open Key Editor in Window
•	Open Pattern Editor in Window
•	Open Sample Editor in Window
•	Open Score Editor in Window

I would like to be able to assign a single shortcut (for example, CMD + Enter on macOS) that, when an event is selected (such as an Audio Part, Drum, MIDI, etc.), would automatically open the selected event in a separate window, just like the individual commands above do.

This would help with the workflow since I would not need to memorize one shortcut per event type.

Isn’t that what the key Enter does?

What @mlib said, just double-click on the event.

Thank you for the input @Reco29 and @mlib. Pressing Enter does open the editor at the bottom of the window (I am guessing here, I don’t remember by heart but still Enter can be applied to only one editor not all of them), but I’d like to open it in a separate window using a shortcut. Ideally, there would be a single shortcut that automatically opens each editor in its own separate window, but that doesn’t exist. Instead, each editor requires its own dedicated shortcut to open in a new window. Since I rely heavily on shortcuts, that’s why I raised this question!

Hi,
you can use this key command to open any editor in the Lower Zone as a separate window:
Editors > Open in Separate Window/Lower Zone.

That’s not exactly what you have been asking for but at least it will get you there for most cases with one extra click and a single key command.

Just a FYI: If you want editors to be opened in a separate window you can do so by changing the defaults in your preferences.

hum! Makes sense! I will analyze how often do I use in lower window and with open window, but still thank you for that idea because I haven’t thought about it!
