Single Track Exported Levels Very Low Cubase Pro 14

I am trying again with this urgent question. Support have not replied to me after 3 weeks and my previous post here got no response. I would be grateful for some help please.

When exporting single (individual) tracks for stems with Cubase Pro 14 on one project the playback level is extremely low - and almost inaudible. With some other projects, it is normal.

If I export the whole project, with Stereo Out checked, the playback volume is normal, and similar to project playback levels.

I’m sure I have done something in the project with the low volume to cause this, but I have no idea what it could be, although I was getting messages about the “audio pool”, which I do not understand (I don’t know what that is - or how to use it).

Can someone please suggest what I might might look at to solve this, as I really need to export the stems soon.

Or, if not, is there a way to move everything to a new project easily, in the hope that I might bypass the original issue.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi,

Do you use any Dynamic (Compressor) plug-in on the Group or the Output Bus, which is not involved in the export, by any chance?

Hi Martin, thank you for your quick reply.

I have Ozone 11 on the Stereo Out, and EW Spaces on some groups and single tracks, but no compressor anywhere.

I edited my OP to say that when exporting the whole track, with stereo out checked, the volume is normal. I’m not sure if this helps you?

Hi,

Ozone includes a compressor for sure.

Thanks again, Martin, But the stereo out volume is fine - so wouldn’t Ozone have a bearing on that, too?

I’ve now heard back from Steinberg support (thank you Oscar), who has advised that I should check the export settings, especially volume and normalisation.

I’m not sure how to do that, or if it needs to be done for every track. So any further advice would be welcome.

If you are boosting the level significantly on the master then the stems may well be a lot lower.

What export settings for FX are you using? What happens if you use the Master option?
