SL10 .slp Corrupt In SL11 (11.0.30)? Displays Don't Load

@Robin_Lobel I have a .slp job I created in SL10 that won’t open in SL11 (11.0.30 build 387)

essentially the amp and spect displays are blank (black) and no units display in the time or freq rulers…tools do not function either

The source file is 32KHz.

I have another job created in the same way in SL10 that is 44.1KHz and opens in SL11 as expected.

This is not a big problem for me right now as I’m working mainly on newly bounced material for the foreseeable future…just in the event others are experiencing the same issue. I can upload the .slp for you and provide a link in PM if you want to investigate.

SL11:

win10 22H2 Build 19045.5011 (new build from last night)

@ctreitzell would you be able to upload that file somewhere ?

I have uploaded a wetransfer which will email you a link to your email you previously supplied me with

you know, come to think of it…I did have an issue with this job a little while ago…maybe I corrupted it somehow as it was my first original material trying out in SL back in May 2024…

maybe I should work on some other 32KHz files and see if I can reproduce the issue before kicking this your way…

hmmmm…
@Robin_Lobel
I have a new job I just started and have the same issue; BUT this job has never been in SL10; only SL11 11.0.30 build 387:

Reopen job and nothing in spectrograph display nor waveform display; zoomed in to maximum and no tools or nav works except the OVERVIEW BAR allows zoom out with mouse left-clk-drag: and then waveform display is populated…but cannot get any display or freq units in spect display
_open .wav
_save as .slp same wav name syntax
_duplicate original wav layer> rename> mute
_work in job (create layers/ run Unmix Noisy Speech/ some manual editing)

I did not save the job; just closed it and no prompt from SL11 upon exit and now job appears corrupted

I do have one “change to system”; installed Cubase 13 last week

init state looks like:

after overview bar zoom:

I need to work…so I will try to save before close…if that doesn’t work, I will roll back to 11.0.20

I can upload to Wetransfer if that helps

hmmmm…SL11 working as normal so far when saving often…I will dig deeper…

@ctreitzell what happens when you have this issue, and then you right-click on the first layer in your layer list > Zoom to Fit ?

@ctreitzell and yes please upload your project to wetransfer

yes, right-clk>zoom to fit sorts out the issue

you still want the slp? because I messed up and saved to see if that would sort the issue

No big deal if you don’t have it anymore.

I’m sure I could repeat the process

@Robin_Lobel is the zoomed in all the way to last playhead location since last save a bug?

My newest job I started today has the same issue…I have a bunch of layers tho…I’m guessing it doesn’t matter which layer gets reset with “zoom to fit”?

…yeah…doesn’t matter which layer

Sounds like it, it’s on my list to check.

Thanks for the confirmation, Robin =-D
I know I can crack on with my editing and not be concerned with rolling back.

Your candor in daily comms with us on the forum is deeply appreciated by me!

I’m having the exact same problem. SL 10 is no problem, but SL 11 I get the blank screen even though I can hit play and there is audio. It turned out that IF I LAUNCH SL 11 IN ROSETTA it works like it should and I see the spectrograph again!!

I’m on an M1 Max Mac Studio running Sonoma 14.7. I don’t think this is file corruption but a bug in SL11.

UPDATE: The “Zoom to Fit” workaround brings back the display when running SL11 native. Thanks for that. The issue seems to come and go and when I first load a slp project, it will be blank display in SL11 running native, but if I set SL11 to launch in Rosetta it consistently works.

@ctreitzell @FlyingVee this issue will be fixed with patch 4 coming at the end of the month.

Just another data point that may be useful. It seems if the SL11 project is saved with the entirely length of the file visible on the timeline (as it would be after using Zoom to Fit), when it is subsequently opened, the display will blank again requiring using Zoom to Fit for it to reappear.

HOWEVER… if you zoom in on the timeline a litle bit (using Command + “+” and THEN save the project… on subsequent load the display will look normal and won’t be blank.

Good news! Thanks!

Thanks! Nevertheless, I’m coping fine with it
