The main issue, to me, is that when there are multiple voices in the same bar, dorico changes the vertical position of the rhythmic notation. I’d like them all to stay centered in the bar.
I would click on those whole note rests and use Remove Rests. I have a keyboard command set up for that (Control-R). And remove the half note rest for the first two beats for the second bar. They pop back to the normal position.
Next question, is the alignment of the lyrics. You can see it’s colliding a bit with the slurs and notes. This was imported from a finale xml, so it may be grabbing some of the adjustments I made in finale. Is there a way to “reset” the spacings?
ok, next question. If I have stuff in other layers, then how do I keep the slash marks in the center of the bar? When I have the rhythm marks in the default stems up voice they are centered in the middle of the bar like normal.
When I change the voice to either the normal downstem rhythmic notation voice, or even a second downstem rhythmic notation voice I added, the slashes move down, away from the center of the bar.
How does one set the vertical positions of the rhythmic notation when there are other voices in the same bar?
This seems to be true whether I’m in write or engrave mode, galley or page view.
When the voices have the same stem direction, Dorico has to offset one of the voices to avoid the stems of the lower notes colliding with the upper voice. If I remember rightly (and I’m on my iPad so can’t run Dorico Pro myself right now) there’s an option in Notation Options for whether and by how much slashes will be offset when multiple voices are active, and as already mentioned earlier in this thread, you can use the Properties panel to set the vertical position of slashes.
