Slash placement on stems in drum set

Percussion is still a bit of a challenge for me. First of all, I would like the slashes to appear on the stem directly above the snare, not above the cymbal. Another thing I have not quite figured out is to show the actual duration, a half note, of the cymbal in the second bar and not a series of tied notes. All must be in alignment.

One can simulate this on a drum staff by adding an extra upstem voice and changing the column index to 0 (zero) in Engrave Properties, but one cannot yet raise the cymbal to a second ledger line.

However, one can use a pitched staff to show a mocked up (but unplayable) drum kit with the cymbal note set one ledger line higher.

I did have to lower the tremolo slashes manually in each example.

Thanks. I’ll play around with it and see what I come up with.

Another thought on this. What if I were to enter percussion instruments on a grid and then convert it into a drum kit 5-line staff? I haven’t tried it yet, but I wonder if that might give me the result I am looking for.

There is one way for you to find out. :slightly_smiling_face:
