Slash Voice For Guitar

Hi, everyone!

Is it possible to get slash notation in the guitar for strummed chords but keep the TAB unaffected?

If not, is there a workaround? Getting very frustrated with this one…

Hi @BillMiller, I hope I understand your request (since I am not a guitar expert).

For what I know, the TAB is strictly connected to the notation, since it is automatically generated from it.

You can obtain what you describe using a duplicate player that shows only the TAB, while the original player shows only the Notation (from Layout Options>Players>Fretted Instruments).

Then delete the instrument names for the duplicate (and rename the player for orientation).

You can then put a big Leading to the original Staff labels text, to have it centred (I set a -30pt in my example).

Then just copy your music to the duplicate (changing then the tab content to normal voice).

You can then drag the brace to both staves in Engrave mode.

If you have chord symbols, you can deactivate them for the duplicate player in Setup mode (right click on the duplicate player>Chord Symbols>Hide for all instruments).

Result:

Dorico file example:
strummed slashes and normal tab.dorico (1.3 MB)

Is this what you want?
