In the recent version, the cursor will sometimes stay in “trim mode” (a line with an arrow in each end) after having selected a portion of audio in the main editor window.
Normally the trim cursor should only be active when hovering around the edges of a selection but sometimes and will stay like this instead of changing back to the normal cursor.
Kinda hard to reproduce exactly but happens a lot for me when trimming away breaths from voiceovers. I select the breath - process silence - then move away from the selection and select a new spot that needs editing.
