(slightly) OT

Hello!

At the moment, I use 8.5" x 11" paper to print charts for my students.

What is the standard paper size for “professional” situations, like Orchestras and Big Bands? How many bars per staff system, and, how many staves per page, on this standard size paper? Is there a standard staff size, as well?

I’m seeking this information so that I could start looking around for the appropriate paper and printer.

Thank you!

Parts for orchestral works are normally printed on slightly larger paper, e.g. 9.5" x 12.5" or 10" x 13". Typically you would want a staff size of 7mm or 0.28", with margins of between three-quarters of an inch to an inch on all side, and 9 or 10 systems to a page.

There’s lots of excellent information about score and part layout in Elaine Gould’s “Behind Bars”, which I commend to you if you’ve not already got it.

Thanx, Daniel!
I just got it, and will be looking at it, and at Dorico, over the holidays.
