The thing about SpectraLayers that has always driven me to shouting at the room is putting layers in the nested order I want them to be ordered into. Users shouldn’t have to develop a knack of placing the mouse in just the right spot on a layer or in the layer hierarchy. I mean, SL has layers in the name, shouldn’t layer management be what this program is excels at? I know I have complained about this in the past.
Instead, it’s ungroup> re-group> drag and hope layer settles in where user wants it to be…layer often doesn’t find the desired user destination and we all just live with what we get.
There are the usual suspects of softwares I could cite as how I’d prefer SL to function. The software which comes to mind is Inkscape. When I used Inkscape in the past, it took a fair amount of learning, yet I found Inkscape to be very good at managing layers.
OK, rant over for now, I go back to work.
