Slur before note problem

hello Dorico friends,

How to solve next problem. The note, quarter C in measure 4 must have a slur before the note. How to solve?
Thnx for help!

Bernard,

Add a grace note C to that note.
Suppress Playback.
Tie them together (T).
In Engrave properties, hide both notehead and stem.

That’s a solution, but not very smart. This Problem was posted here in the forum sevral times since a long time. I think it’s needed very often. Would be good, if Steinberg offers a solution soon.

It is indeed a long standing wish from the community to have a native solution for ties in repeats, so it is certainly on the radar.

Another solution is to use an l.v. tie and adjust it in engrave mode, but you will probably not find that smarter

Certainly not :joy: that was the ol’ workaround, the tied hidden note is the newest workaround and it’s much simpler/faster to use!

One potential issue with the tied hidden note is that hidden objects will still cast a “shadow” on some printers; on my HP LaserJet, hidden objects leave a hole like they were just whited out on the paper.

I created 6 short user scripts that add a reversed l.v. tie to a note – three different lengths, either above or below. You can put these scripts into the Script Plug-ins folder in your Dorico user config folder (c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Dorico 6 on Windows and /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 6 on Mac) and then invoke them from the Script menu to quickly add a backwards second ending tie.
