Slur in condensing

hello all,

in the middle of a divisi a2 I have this in the score

and this in the part

I only have to put one more slur, like so:

but then I get this in the score (one stem, one slur)

can I do something about this ?

Can you post a short excerpt of the project? Then it will be easier to help.

Vln II, measure 155-156

thanks ! /j

in the Score - place a Condensing change for Violin 2 in MM 155 - upstem and downstem - i think if you want single stem you might be out of luck unless there is a workaround

that made it.

I always put first a reset condensing change, to not mess up the whole part.

then I made the manual condensing with stem up stem down.

my first reset was in M156, and that didn’t do anything.
next reset was 159. that worked for 155-156 but then I got whole bar rests, and no slurs at all 158-159.
then I put a reset at 160 and that did it. up/down two stems as I wanted and the two slurs.

what I don’t understand is the difference between this place and vlnII M202 and on…

what’s the difference ??

thank you ! /j

Mmm… Rosenberg! New edition?

If you just set a condensing change in bar 155 like this:

The slur will show. One certainly could argue that a mid-phrase unison should show both slurs, but as it stands it doesn’t.

ah…

I’ll try that.

I’m doing a new material for orfeus in town. for the “non edition” swedish music, the depot for all swedish composers..

this is the version without the dance suite. that is already edited at gehrmans

thank you ! /j

Sounds great. Many works still handwritten that really could benefit from new material. Preparing for a performance of Den heliga natten right now – it works, but it’s not always as readable as one would wish.

would be interesting to see that score…

hilding is not always consequent in his authograph.. as “always” from that era, fast handwritten stuff… fascinating actually, some staccato here and there (does it continue or not ?), accent, accent, but not after the page turn… etc

so to see another score would be interesting in terms of “how he does it”. to see if these lapsus are in your score as well etc etc.
