Slurs and ties for multiple verses

Hello everyone. I’m a vocal composer and I’ve come across an issue trying to clarify multiple verses with ties and slurs in the same area. My plan is to have slurs clarifying two words in verse 1 and a dashed tie clarifying one word in verse 2. But when I try to add the tie, the slur automatically moves to the following note. I’d like the slur to stay in place and have the tie. I’ve tried force duration, etc.

In the screenshot, you’ll see where I am before my attempts.

…select the slur(s), and in Properties Panel, activate End position in the chain and select First note:
