In editions that I am familiar with, such as the Wiener Urtext editions, deferred finger substitutions are normally made with longer slurs, probably to remain consistent with the short slurs used for immediate fingering substitutions.
Perhaps the statement means that Dorico is only able to do longer substitutions with straight lines at this point. In any case, I request that slurs be added for deferred finger substitutions at some point. Thank you.
