First I want to say how satisfied with this file structure, with the audio folder, renderings etc.
To understand my request I want to say that my current workflow method is that I bounce my mixes in pro tools, and they sit in the Bounced Files Folder, and I import them into Wavelab 13, and I get asked if want it copied to the Wavelab audio folder and I accept.
First have to say all my mixes are dated and version tracked (V1, V2…) if there are several on the same date.
My problem is that if I want to redo the bounce for any reason and not change my version number and I “replace file” in the Wavelab montage (where I apply final limiter etc,) it asks normally if I want it in the audio folder, BUT it doesn’t allow me to just replace that file, it puts a suffix on the name.
I would love that it could simply want to replace the former file, like in the render function

You could simply overwrite the files in the WaveLab sub-folder, when WaveLab is not opened.

Of course I can do that, but I was thinking about the same behaviour as when you render a file and realize you’ve forgotten something and redo it : as it finds the previous render in the destination folder, it just asks you if you want to replace it by the new render, click and voilà, simple and clear.
But as I said, I greatly appreciate this new file structure, and the fact
that it asks you if you want to copy the source in the audio folder. That simplifies my workflow a lot

The current way of working is also due to the undo/redo mechanism, namely, that when you add a file, it can be undone. If the original file were overwritten, this would break the undo history.
