See the fragment in the image included. That’s flute, clarinet, harp, and tuba. Notice the last quarter of the 3/4 measure in the clarinet and tuba parts both have shaped smears after the note (for lack of a better term). I’m not sure what to do about it. I could consider a fall-off (but don’t know where to find one), but I don’t like that. It’s not quite a glissando either. Note that both glide into a rest and on no specific pitch. It’s like a groan. The hairpins extend under them.
Does someone know how I can do that? This is going to come up a lot, so I need to find a good way to do it. (It occurs say more so on the other score I’ve started.)
If playback is not important, you can use an ornament - right panel (ctrl-9) in write mode - to add a jazz fall. (I think the long fall looks right). You can also enter ornaments via the Shift-O popover. You can also create a playback technique which might give you the proper playback (if your sound library has such a sound). You might also search through the Smufl characters to see if such a character already exists.
Playback is not important. I have recordings of two performances.
I will, of course, hope for the best possible playback, but not at the sacrifice of notation.
The ornamentation popover has fall, allegedly a jazz fall-off, which I believe should be adequate for now.
When I return to the score I was previously working on I’m going to have to learn to do something more sophisticated because it’s full of more complicated extended techniques.
