Smooth punch in point for CC automation on automation lanes?

Hi all. I’m using the faders on a controller to write CC automation in automation lanes (not as midi messages on the part itself)

My problem is that without motorized faders I have no way to pick up the automation value where it is to keep writing it from that point on. It suddenly jumps to the new position. This makes it impossible to do another pass on an existing automation lane since it produces a jump in the parameter. No matter how close I try to match the fader to the current value.

Is there a way to have the punch in point be smoothed somehow? Like creating a curve automatically to the new point?

Also, trim apparently doesn’t help. The manual says that trim only applies to volume and sends. Am I understanding this correctly?

What do you all do when you need to punch into an existing MIDI CC automation lane? Do you simply edit it by hand? (this would be tedious in my case since, for example I’m automating 5 string sections at the same time).

Thank you all for any help!

Hi,

Let me correct the terminology here. You are talking about MIDI CC in the Automation Track (not Lane), I believe. So you do it in the Project window, not in the editor and you enable W to write the automation. Right?

You’re absolutely right. I got the terms wrong. Yes, in the project window enabling W to write it across multiple tracks at the same time.
