Solo Defeat Issue

Hey Cubase, just wondering if there is a permanent way to get rid of this Solo Defeat thing from showing up all the time, I don’t use it, and can’t seem to get rid of it.
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
how does this manifest in your project?
Usually, you have to know the dedicated key command to activate Solo Defeat and this never happend to me by accident. Am I missing something?

Hey there,
It’s like it has a mind of it’s own, I click to solo and the D button comes on, and I can’t seem to get out of it, it’s a total buzz killer while I’m on a roll.
I’ve been thru the manual, Artist 13, Mac, and also been thru an online search, I just want to banish it from my system.

I would like to defeat the Solo defeat. : )

It is the same key command on Mac as in Windows, Alt + Click on the Solo Button, right?
Do you have former versions of Cubase on your systems? In that case you could try to temporarily disable your user preferences. Maybe things got messed up here when presets were migrated to Artist 13.

Thanks for the reply.
I’ve tried Alt, Opt, and Command clicks and nothing works. I upgraded from Artist 12.
Isn’t there just some option somewhere to turn it off ? …that I don’t want to use it.
I’ve been all thru my preferences and can’t find anything ???

Hi,
it should be Alt + Click on the Solo Button. It doesn not work? That is strange.

No, not to my knowledge.

Okay, maybe you should try to temporarily disable user preferences:
Launch Cubase and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Mac Cmd + Opt + Shift), then chose “disable program preferences”.

Afterwards start a new project and see if this strange behaviour still occurs.
Maybe we can narrow it down a bit.
And defeat the Solo defeat

Thanks, I do appreciate the help.
Not sure I want to fool around with disabling prefs for now, I don’t want any other issues popping up.
My workaround is to open Cubase 12 and do all my recording and editing there, no problems with Solo Defeat popping up there.
Then I just export the track to 13 and do my mixing there.
My problems with the SD come up when I’m listening and editing lots of audio in 13, working to make finished tracks.
I’ve been on Cubase for about 20 years, and this is the only pain in the butt I’ve come across, something that pops up and I can’t stop it. Sucks.
Thanks for the feedback.
Cheers

When you click on the solo it solo’s. If you hold the mouse button on the solo defeat will activate.
I’m guessing you’re holding the button too long when you solo.
I’m pretty sure there is no way to permanently deactivate this option.

Guess I’m just old school, I like the way it was before this became a mandatory
addition. Artist 12 didn’t have it popping up all the time, very distracting.
Anyway, thanks again
