Has anybody come up with a way to try a vocal passage out on the different cantai solo voices, without stopping and reloading a new voice each time? I would even settle for a demo that has each soloist singing a different piece, just to get a feel for their styles.
I’m using the cantai for Mac Intel on Dorico 6, and so the re-rendering as I change the singer choice takes forever.
I was told that there are samples available on the cantai website. If there are, I can’t find them. If I go to cantai.com/demo there are only three samples to listen to–one a duet and the other two both choral. I need to be able to listen to the various soloists in quick succession. Not wait for two-minute reloads, or make twenty copies of the same piece and load each one with a different soloist.
I have copy/pasted part of the melody/lyric on to about 8 staves, each with a different singer, staggering them so they are singing separately. Screen record as reference.
As the number of singers expand, it is going to be time-consuming to evaluate. It would be good to be able to select a few bars and then be able to audition each singer more quicker, perhaps others have a workaround better than mine.
In the same boat. What I’ve turned to is just auditioning the first few bars of the singer. You don’t have to wait for the entire render. The beginning loads fairly quickly, at least enough to get an idea of their style.
… as opposed to sending out the parts, holding auditions, arranging the composer to be present (if alive, or even if not), wait for the conductor or musical director to arrive, have the other singers already booked, finding a rehearsal space with a piano/pianist or your orchestra present, set up a livestream for those who could not attend…
… and now we all complain about the long wait of minutes!! to render
