Solo Track follows Selected Track

Question,

Is there a way to have solo follow the track selection? That is, I have two audio tracks “xxx” and “yyy” among a bunch that I want to A/B I mute the other tracks in the project and xxx and yyy are solod.

Since solo is persistent, in order to hear xxx alone I need to mute yyy. When I want to hear yyy alone I need to mute xxx and solo yyy. That means I can’t truly a/b them in real time.

Is there a way to do this?

Yes, there is. I’ve been doing it for years. But now I’ve just installed Pro 8.5 and re-setting my preferences, I can’t figure out how. It’s a simple preference setting, but where is it?

Found it. Preferences > Editing > Project & Mixconsole
tick “Enable Solo on Selected Track”

& shortcut to toggle that feature on & off is the ` symbol (on the left of the 1 key above letter Q key ie not numeric keypad)
Hope that keyboard position explanation is clear enough.
