So let’s say I have a few automation lanes for a single track and I’m really zoomed in making meticulous adjustments to one of the automation lanes far down the list (usually when working with film). A lot of the time I want to solo the track that the lane I’m editing belongs to. So, I hit “S” and nothing happens.
I have to either open the inspector and click solo OR scroll up to the track and highlight it first OR zoom out. All of those options pull me out of what I’m concentrating on and then I have to find my position again and zoom in to get back to it. Then go through it all again if I want to un-solo.
TL;DR
If I’m on an automation lane that belongs to a specific track, it stands to reason that I want to solo that track when I hit “S”. It instead does nothing at all.
Here’s an image of a really zoomed in and highlighted automation lane at the bottom of a long list of automations. Hope that helps clarify my plight if my explanation is wonky.
Hope this isn’t a niche (just me) thing. ‘Cause man, I really need it.

P.S. I’m also hoping that I don’t have to create some sort of macro with a different shortcut just to make this happen. “S” is embedded in every DAW user’s brain as SOLO. Please let me just hit “S” for this, I beg. lol
