(SOLVED) Audio playback glitches in Cubasis 3.8.2 on iPad Pro with iOS 26.2

We’ve been rehearsing for a show next week, and since I updated to Cubasis 3.8.2, I’ve been experiencing audio playback glitches (short audio dropouts manifesting as clicks/stutters).

They happen about 2-3 times during our 30 minute set.

This is on the same iPad Pro with iOS 26.2 that’s been running Cubasis glitch free for a long time, and nothing about the Cubasis projects has changed, so this isn’t an issue of something being different in the projects that might cause this.

This is quite literally a showstopper for us, and I am now scrambling to put together a different playback solution.

Is there anything I can do, for example by changing settings within Cubasis or iOS, to resolve or mitigate this? I’m already running the iPad in airplane mode, but like I said, this all used to work just fine, airplane mode or not.

I’d even rather go back to an older revision of Cubasis (say, one or two revs back when things used to work fine), but I don’t know how to get access to those.

Help!!

Sounds like a power-related issue to Me especially if hubs and stuff are involved…

Yeah… I had this with a cheap hub… does it do the same thing when not connected to an interface?

Power is going through a Furman power conditioner and is backed up by an uninterruptible power supply. So, no, power is both conditioned and continuous and is not the root cause here.

I haven’t tried that because it’s a moot point - I can’t operate our live show without the iPad being connected to a hub that connects various other pieces of gear.

Either way, this has been road-tested and worked flawlessly for years, and the only thing that changed was the Cubasis (and iOS update), so that points to either of those being the culprit.

Got it.. sounds very frustrating… I guess for my own experience of the same setup, like I said earlier, my powered hub was the thing that got flaky, but replacing that fixed it… but this was independent of cubasis. This was flakey on all the IO operations that the hub had to do.

It was a good guess - hubs can be finicky!

I updated to the very latest iOS (26.2.1) and ran through the set last night without any audio glitches. Since this was an intermittent problem in the first place, I’m not yet declaring victory, but it was an encouraging sign.

We’re rehearsing again today, so I’ll be gathering some more data whether this iOS update resolved this issue and will post my findings here.

good to hear! good luck with the rehearsals

Thanks!

And good news: After updating to iOS 26.2.1, I ran through our set three times, and those audio dropouts/glitches did not reoccur.

So I’m marking this one as resolved - there must have been some bug in iOS 26.2 that caused this, and that got fixed in the 26.2.1 update.

Hi @Timo00,

Glad to hear that updating iPadOS seems to have resolved your issue.

Best,
Lars
