SOLVED ! Cubase 8 isn't starting( VideoPlayer FREEZE )

Be sure to have all windows update installed ( optional too )

first time take up to 5 Minutes to boot up , then closing and opening is really fast (at least 50% than 7.5 )

my Cubase 8 doesn’t starts it stops working during the initialisation progress

tried to reboot several times

Updated quicktime 7.7.6
last video driver 14.9 ( ati 5670 silent )
directx reinstalled


Any ideas how to solve it ?

Hi have the same issue!
Cannot start cubase 8, I downloaded both cubase 8 pro update and full but still the same crash.
Couldn’t found any emayl to ask a steinberg support place,
Any suggestions?

hi sorry for the dalay answering your question ( at least trying to answer … )

as written i solved this problem updating windows 7 to the last update

( in particular microsoft framework the last one )

and last quicktime update ( full installer )

just this morning ( after more than a week later )

steinberg replied me suggesting to delete the preference ( in cubase 8)

forcing a clean install of preferences

let me know if this could help

Still Cubase 8 not working!!
I´ve been traying to contact technical service but as I downloaded the soft from the web, I have no one to contact here in Argentina nither on the web!!!
Can somebody tell me how to contact technical support?

I feel the pain. I have the exact same problem. 7.5 Cubase works, 8.05 not (videoplayer freeze). I tried all of the options above but to no success. Now I’m waiting on any form of reply from my support email. Not a promising start to my time with latest Cubase.

Update - after inspection of win event log it appears it was a graphics issue. I got a later ATI driver and now it works. I get the feeling there may be some dependency or prerequisite missing from the install of Cubase 8 as 7.5 worked straight away and even when 8.05 was installed and crashing.

Unless I am mistaken there does not appear to be any way to view statue or even update a logged support request via mysteinberg.
