for some reason, pressing “y” to input unpitched percussion dosn’t work for me.
Im using the English keyboard layout
any ideas?
When you’re inputting on a pitched staff, does Y work to input a note? It should input a note on the middle line of a pitched staff.

Have you considered taking a couple of measures from a file that demonstrates this problem and zipping it up and attaching it just in case that would help diagnose the problem?
qanunji, could you please do Help > Create Diagnostic Report and attach the zip file created on your desktop to a reply here? I think you must have mucked up your key commands somehow.
Your custom key commands file shows that you have deleted the default Y shortcut, and indeed a whole bunch of others. I’ve attached a zip file containing a version of your key commands file with this deletion removed, so that the default Y shortcut should work again.
Unzip the attached archive and put the keycommands_en.json file in C:/Users/Ariel/AppData/Roaming/Steinberg/Dorico 3/, overwriting the file that’s already there. Then restart Dorico.
