(SOLVED) Events position changes on the grid over the time randomly

1. Summary/Title

(Provide a short but descriptive sentence that summaries the issue or feature request)
Events position changes on the grid over the time randomly

2. Description

(Provide a detailed description and list the step by step process to reproduce the issue to help the team to understand and reproduce the problem)
Perhaps :
Make a projects using Ipad pro 10.5 inch at 48khz/24bits
Make 50 audio tracks, duplicate one audio event on 50 audio tracks and fill 64 bars.
Load lots of plugins
Select and move with your finger several events in 30 tracks to 64 bars forward, repeat it several times…
(Close Cubasis, load Cubasis) x 50 times

3. Expected Results

No sudden changes in events length or position in the grid at any time…

4. Actual Results (Describe what you actually saw)

I’ve been seeing weird behavior in the app for about 6 months now. When I duplicate an event that is basically a perfect length (fit the bar) using copy paste…Everything goes normally, then as I progress through the project, all of a sudden, the event shifts by itself when I zoom on it.

It is obviously impossible for me to know exactly when this happens since I do not always work at 100% zoom…And it is only visible close to 100%…

5. Environment (Count the hardware and software including version numbers being used)

IPad pro 2018 10.5 inches
iPadOS 17.5.1
Cubasis 3.6.6

I’m not specialist, but I suspect a graphic issue, and/or because there is no “cut” options, we are obliged to use our fingers to move events…and, as in an events you have handles with different options, it may occur that the length of the events changes without seeing it, because to move events you need to zoom out before process it otherwise you don’t see what you do…Sometimes it happens because of a bad finger placement movement that all the selected events have a fade in/fade out, or a drop in volume which remains visible even without enlarging the zoom, during a move…And now with the automatic copy (the anchor in the middle at the end of an event…) it’s worse…

I am writing all this in order to know if other users have notified this behavior or not…

Thank you,

Hi @arakatak

We’ve discussed your issue with our engineering, with the following outcome:

The video shows that snap grid is set to “off”. This way, if one (or more) events are selected, in inadvertent swipe on an event would move it (or them) by a bit. Or if the swipe inadvertently starts on a handle, its length, or fade in/out could change. As a workaround, set the snap grid to a higher value, because at e.g. 1/4, a small inadvertent swipe movement has no effect.

Hope that helps.

Best,
Lars

Hi Lars,

Thanks for your help.
I found it…I remember that an external app have changed the cubasis project tempo through ableton link /auv3…
Is there a way to lock cubasis tempo…?

Thanks,
BR

Hi @arakatak

I found it…I remember that an external app have changed the cubasis project tempo through ableton link /auv3…
Is there a way to lock cubasis tempo…?

How about disabling “Ableton Link” under “Setup/MIDI”?

Best,
Lars

Yes ok, but how if I need to use ableton link…??
I have to run the ableton link app first, and make sure that the tempo is the same as the project in Cubasis…? And not forgot at any time, otherwise I will have to rearrange the events length one by one in all tracks in Cubasis, that’s a severe punishment…that’s takes time and ruin creativity…when you have hundreds events in tens tracks…Or,have an option in Cubasis to lock the project tempo in order that NO apps can change tempo inside Cubasis…and perhaps at the same time lock the project sample rate in Cubasis…

BR

Hi @arakatak

Ableton Link works"as is".

Please disable the feature in Cubasis (or other Ableton-compatible 3rd party apps) if you do not want to use it.

Best,
Lars

Hi Lars,

Yes sure…but I need and want to use Ableton link…!
Well, it seems that we are going around in circles or there is surely something that I am having trouble to understand…So, OK, in any case, I will try not to forget to launch the plugins before launching Cubasis to make sure that the tempo is the same as the tempo of the project in Cubasis…before engaged Ableton link.
