I reached UA support, and they assured me that this is a temporary issue caused by their updating the site resources. They are working on migrating some remaining stuff and they expect the issue to get resolved by Monday apr 14.
Now the plugin is available.
Thanks for the heads up, works for me as well.
I’ve been having the same issue. There are so many hoops to jump through for every one of the “free” programs, I’m not sure if it’s worth the time spent.
People may find this particularly true for UAD, given you have download UA Connect as well just to download the plug-in. It will automatically launch every time that plug-in is parsed, too. If you’re prepared to spend significant time and money investing in the UAD ecosystem, then I think it’s a great platform, but their marketing efforts and “forced adoption methods” are a bit extreme for my tastes (which is why I do other things to get around that). If I didn’t have a UAD account already, I wouldn’t have bothered with that (rather pedestrian) plug-in at all.
This!
I already have a couple of other UAD plugins which I quite like, so I make do with it, for now. Nothing is irreplaceable. There’s many LA-2A style comps out there i.e.
After starting my DAW I always kill UA Connect.
What I did was just create a 150 meg DMG file (MacOS), mount it, and copy UA Connect over to that. Then I unmount it. That way it’s not even available to launch at all, and if I need it I just mount the DMG again. UA Connect complains about “hey, move me to the application directory” but I don’t and it works fine. I’ll fire it up now and again to update, but it’s just not cool for force-load an app in the middle of a season that’s not required for the app to run. I can see “phone home” (which lots of vendors use) but not launching a completely separate app in my session for no reason other than to post usage data to mixpanel, sentry_io, new relic, and post usage logs to AWS.
