I just discovered that I had a copy of my huge samples folder on another harddisk, and, after making super sure that it was identical to the real samples folder (which I have directed all Steinberg products to use), I deleted it.
Now HALion’s browse page (Mediabay based) is empty, and HALion thus almost useless. I can still view HALion presets from the standalone Mediabay window, but not from HALion.
Is there a way to manually set location for all samples and presets in HALion? Is there a system file or regedit hack?
I checked the locations in the Library manager. Nothing wrong.
I can now view about half the presets from HALion, but not ordered or organized in any way, just a huge list, and about half of them are unloadable. They have a red stop sign, and “handle missing libraries” does nothing. I can also not see the various icons for the different libraries, only “all”.
So - I don’t have HALion…
Is there a way to just reset everything to do with HALion content locations?
I have tried to reinstall HALion 7 itself.
OK, I “solved” it.
It turns out rebooting the computer magically made Cubase and HALion behave again.
There was a Windows update due to be installed.
I have noticed that sometimes, when Windows decides it is time for an update, programs behave more and more preposterously until you are harassed into rebooting and updating. There is no logical reason why a Windows update due to be intalled should affect Cubase in this way. I last updated less than a month ago.
Anyway, that appears to be the “solution”.
