I’m a bit of an old school hardware kind of fella, and decided to try and get to grips with a DAW. I have Cubasis 3.8.1 on a Samsung Ultra S10 tablet, but no matter what settings I tweak, I cannot seem to get to the point where I can record beyond tracks 1 and 2. The only thing that I have managed to do is to bounce tracks 1 and 2 combined on to track 3, but it then prevents me from editting the track any further.
I want (for now) to be able to programme multiple tracks with no external kit whatsoever (once I fathom out how to use it, I may subsequently introduce some of my hardware too).
Please can anyone give some simple novice as to what settings I need to change? It seems that once I have laid down a drum tarck on track 1, and a bass on track 2, I can’t add anything else at all!! When I try and search for answers it keeps going on about external audio interfaces, and at the moment I only want to use the virtual synths within the DAW.
Hi. I made a little video on how to add tracks. You need to drag a track upwards to help you see the add or subtract option when there is more tracks. Or if this does not help, maybe it would be helpful if you made a little screen capture video to see how or why you cannot add tracks
Yes - you’re correct. However, when I add any eatra tracks after track 2, it will not allow me to edit the track or instrument or anything. Must be a settings thing I guess, but I can’t find which setting it is.
Thank you - I think I’ve fathomed it. It was defaulting to aduio tracks rather than MIDI tracks, and I hadn’t realised. I guess it was awaiting a signal from an external source. Think I’ve cracked it now - this is probablyl why I haven’t let myself loose with software previously
Yh i suspected you were adding audio tracks as normally (outside of DAWS) midi relates to operating external devices.. at least it was for me in the time (‘90s) i worked with hardware samplers (like roland workstations etc) without a pc (or mobles/tablets nowadays).
True., he probably didnt use the add button and just froze the midi track.. in which you have 3 tracks total and you cant edit them (the midi & frozen rendered one)..
Hopefully your vid helped (it would probably easier to see if you included the screen taps in the screen recording, if you have that option)
He said he had 2 midi tracks and a bounced one.. so im not completely sure what happened
Thanks. I have the taps option available as I used the capture thingy which is on many Android phone, (mine is samsung a54) but I forgot to use that option. Here is the improved taps on use video
